Curiosity.
On the page and on air.

Growing up in the countryside shaped Rick’s interest in the natural world. A longstanding love of radio became another part of a working life that began in publishing.

Over more than fifty years, he has written and edited for children, general readers and specialist audiences. Books and magazines took him across sport, travel and natural history, as well as business and industry. His wider subjects include health and the Army.

Research could mean five weeks photographing in China, interviews for a newspaper advertorial, or developing a feature for England Rugby. It could also mean planning a partwork series from one issue to the next.

On air, Rick covered matches in English and presented forthcoming events in French for nine years. On stage, he performed Shakespeare and poetry, and devised a one-man show for the Edinburgh Fringe. Humour writing and French-to-English translation add other voices to the portfolio.
